Pedal Power: Drive Less, Live More

Many hands make light work

It’s true, that many hands of multiple people helping out make the work easier. It also helps the work of Bike Miami Valley and its small team of staff members, cover more bikey-opportunities in our region. Each fall, our office receives a dozen or more requests to provide support at events, festivals, and activities because people arrive by bike of course. But it clutters up the event site, so we provide designated bike parking to solve the issue. Unfortunately, there are too many events to be able to be present at all of them. So this year, we’re focusing our efforts on those that have the most reach and the best opportunity to get more people riding bicycles.

Thanks to the support of the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission (MVRPC) their sponsorship of Drive Less, Live More events and will support two awesome FREE Bike Valet Parking opportunities for participants and visitors this fall:

If you love bicycles, we encourage you to ride to these events and show up in style but that’s not all.

Miami Valley Bluegrass & Artisan Festival, September 15 (Bike Valet Parking) 12:00 PM – 9:00 PM

ArtFest in Beavercreek on September 16 (Bike Valet Parking) 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Wait there’s more! This is where you come in….keep reading.

Volunteers = Value

For the 2018 events, we are in need of people who believe in the power of cycling to lend us a hand. We run event booths parking bicycles all day sometimes, and this year, all weekend! We need folks that are friendly, willing to help, and able to give just a few hours of their time to add valuable amenities like bike valet parking for these events. Volunteering has its perks too; each person who shows up to help out will receive a cool T-shirt or Cycling Cap for their time. If you already have a T-shirt or cap from volunteering in the past, we will comp your 2019 Bike Miami Valley membership….wow that’s over $50 in value!
