Derr Road Improvements: Public Support Needed
Bike Springfield requests that all Bike Miami Valley members support Bike Springfield with an email campaign to the Springfield City Commissioners and Mayor to encourage Springfield to move forward with a vote of approval on a road safety/reconfiguration project (reducing four lanes of through traffic to two lanes, with a designated turn lane, and two adjacent 5 foot bicycle lanes) on the north end of Derr Road between Villa Road and Home Road. Funding for this project is federal CMAQ (Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality) monies applied for by the Clark County – Springfield Transportation Coordinating Committee. This will connect the finished repaving of the north end of Derr Road that provides two traffic lanes and two adjacent bicycle lanes. The goal is to provide the entire north end of Springfield neighborhoods bicycle access into the city and the Simon Kenton multi use Trail.

Bike Springfield is planning for bicyclists to ride to the City Hall Forum (one block north of the Little Miami Scenic Trail trailhead) the evening of Tuesday, 29 August. Please be there slightly prior to 7 PM and park your bicycles on the north side of City Hall so that the City Commissioners can see all of the bicycles parked outside the windows. Please come even if you can’t ride to the meeting.
