Bike Museums In the Miami Valley


Carillon Historical Park
Situated next to the River Corridor Bikeway, Carillon Historical Park features a replica of a Wright Brothers bicycle shop and an exhibit "Wheels of Innovation" which displays many of the early bicycles built in the Miami Valley. The exhibit is housed in the Wright Cycle building. The park is located at 2001 S. Patterson Blvd., Dayton, Ohio 45409, 937-293-2841. 

Wright Bros. Cycle Shop
Wilbur and Orville Wright operated the Wright Cycle Shop from 1895 to 1897. Here they first began their search for powered flight, learning many of the skills that led to their success while manufacturing their own brands of bicycles. The recreated bicycle shop contains period bicycles as well as several original Wright artifacts.

The shop is operated by the National Park Service and is located at 22 S. Williams St., Dayton, OH 45407, 937-225-7705. From Memorial Day to Labor Day the hours are Mon-Sat 8:30 to 4:30 and Sun 11 to 4:30. From Labor Day to Memorial Day the hours are Wed-Sat 8:30 to 4:30 and Sun 11 to 4:30.

Bicycle Museum of America
The Dicke Family, owners of Crown Equipment Co, bought the Schwinn bicycle collection at auction in Chicago and moved them to New Bremen, Ohio. The museum features around 200 bicycles and associated accessories dating from 1816 to the present.

The museum is located at 7 W. Monroe St., New Bremen, Ohio 45869, 419-629-9249, www.bicylemuseum.com. Summer hours are Mon-Fri 11-7, Sat 11-2 and Winter hours are Mon-Fri 11-5, Sat 11-2. New Bremen is 55 miles north of Dayton, Ohio.
